1) KEY TIMINGS

Skyline Scotland Schedule

Please familiarise yourself with the above or the following pages depending on which race you have entered:

Kinlochleven Overview Map

The Event Village, Parking, Start and Finish will be at the Ice Factor in the centre of Kinlochleven. Registration will be a signed 2-minute walk away in The Leven Centre [3] (see map above).

2) REGISTRATION

- You must register in person - no one can register on your behalf!

- It is only possible to register within the registration opening times (see KEY TIMINGS above)

- It will NOT be possible to register without photographic ID;

A passport, photo driving license, national identity card or military ID are all accepted (a high-quality photocopy is acceptable - we must be able to identify you from the photo). A bank card is NOT acceptable.

Unable to attend?

The deadline for any transfers to be completed is by 23:59 on Sunday 9th September. Transfers can only be made by emailing us directly before this time (substitution via self-service in SIEntries is not possible).

After this date you can not transfer your entry to anyone else (i.e. 'swapping names' or using the entry for anyone but yourself will not be possible).

We are strictly unable to process any last minute transfers or entries at registration WITHOUT EXCEPTION

Kit Check

You will need to arrive at registration with ALL your kit that you will be racing with - don't forget the SHOES you will be racing in (all races) and the running pack/vest (all races except the VK) you will be carrying:

  • Important: A GPS tracker will be attached to your running pack/vest at registration, therefore it is not possible for you to register without your race pack/vest (all races except the VK)
  • All participants will be subject to a kit check.

It will take about 30 minutes to register once you start. Be aware, there may be a queue.

Please ensure you have every item of kit on the mandatory kit list (check it now!), we would especially like to highlight the need for a survival bag (all races except the VK) and appropriate shoes (fell or mountain running shoes with decent lugs (i.e. decent depth and quality of tread) will be IMPORTANT AND BEST in both ascent and descent).

Important: Have you got a survival BAG (not BLANKET)?

3) TRANSPORT

Lift Sharing

With ~2000 participants expected, there’s a good opportunity for you to find a lift share in the official Salomon Skyline Scotland Facebook Group.

Car Parking

Please ensure you follow signs and our car parking team's directions upon arrival. There is plenty of parking adjacent to the Event Village (see map above) in Kinlochleven for a nominal charge of £2 (cash only - payable per entry). Need more info

If you arrive in a camper van you may be directed to a separate area but space is at a premium - to clarify there is no provision for electric hook-ups for camper vans! There will be toilets available just outside the entrance to the car park.

Please do not park on the residential streets around Kinlochleven.

You may strictly not pitch a tent in or around the car park OR on the village green OR other non-officially designated camping locations nearby (yes we've been asked and yes we know accommodation is tricky to find!)

We would like to minimise disturbance to the local community who are being very supportive and accommodating of the event taking place on their doorstep.

4) SPECIFIC RACE DETAILS

Who will be on the start line?

See the entry/start lists - complete with all times (and identification of those representing their official national team for the 3x Skyrunning World Championships races).

Registration

It's mandatory! See above.

Is there a facility to leave a bag whilst I'm racing?

Yes - just find us at the Info point in the Event Village - items will all be left at your risk so please don't leave valuables.

Course Closure Time

The Course Closure Time is

  • 18:30 for the Salomon Mamores VK
  • 19:00 for the Salomon Ben Nevis Ultra and Salomon Ring of Steall Skyrace
  • 21:00 for the Salomon Glen Coe Skyline

Medal

All finishers completing the course (strictly within the course opening times) will receive a finisher's medal at the finish line (for the VK you must come back to the start for yours!)

GPS Course Download

The route is well marked with flags which must be closely followed during the race. However, some competitors like to have a digital version of the route which is accessible via 'The Route' section on the individual races' Information page on this website.

Please note: You must follow the race signs and flagged course on race day and NOT rely on a GPS track for following the route.

Event Rules

For the avoidance of doubt, ignorance of the event rules is no excuse and failure to comply with them may result in disqualification. Please check these rules carefully to AVOID BEING DISQUALIFIED e.g. no outside assistance, no headphones and more.

5) SALOMON SKYLINE SCOTLAND FACEBOOK GROUP

To help facilitate last-minute plans such as accommodation and transport hook-ups, getting to know your fellow race participants, and for anything else Salomon Skyline Scotland, please join in the discussions now!

Finally, whilst we've done our best to warn the Co-op supermarket, fish & chip shop, and cash machine operator in Kinlochleven for the sudden influx of people over the weekend, we recommend bringing any cash and provisions you might need with you

Supporting those looking after the wild areas:

The John Muir Trust and The National Trust for Scotland have both received donations from Ourea Events as part of our annual 1% For The Planet contribution. We continue to make substantial donations to both organisations and the good news is so can you:

Any questions not addressed above? If you email us directly, we are currently unable to guarantee a rapid reply to individual queries due to the high volume of communication so please make sure you look through the website information pages and check out the Facebook group for any similar questions (which we also actively seek to help with).

We look forward to seeing you in Kinlochleven,
