10 things to look out for at Salomon Skyline Scotland 2022

Skyline Scotland is the highlight of the trail running and sky running calendar, and with two new races, this year is shaping up to be more exciting than ever.

Here are 10 things to look out for at this year’s event:

 

1. The brand NEW Ultra – the Lochaber 80

Brand new for 2022, the Salomon Lochaber 80 Trail Ultra is the longest distance available this year at Salomon Skyline Scotland. Go on a tour of the true Scottish wilderness, as you pass through the remote glens and beautiful forests of the Lochaber region. Don't forget! this course is fully marshalled, waymarked and signed, so that you can focus on some fantastic running through the stunning Scottish Highlands!

2. The NEW Trail Race – the 27km Mamores Stalker

Another new edition to the Skyline Scotland line-up, the Salomon Mamores Stalker 27km is the perfect trail running test. Enjoy varied terrain, delightfully tricky descents and the stunning scenery that you would expect of the Scottish Highlands. Just like the Lochaber 80, this new 27km is also part of the Spartan Trail World Championship.

3. Incredible prizes from SPARTAN - as part of the Spartan Trail World Championship

There are some awesome prizes from SPARTAN up for grabs on the two new Trail Races. This includes trophies for the top 5 men and women and a very generous prize fund. There will also be a SPARTAN t-shirt and medal for all finishers!

4. The Event Village in Kinlochleven 

There is always plenty going on in the Event Village, which is right next to the Ice Factor in the centre of Kinlochleven. There will be food and drink, free talks about all things outdoors, new workshops for runners, and even a ceilidh band, so it’s definitely worth sticking around after your race.

5. Scottish Highland views!

The incredible Highland views of the fabulous mountains around Kinlochleven and all over Lochaber are second to none. Enjoy the sights of the famous Ben Nevis and the lofty Mamore mountains!

7. Exciting exhibitors to meet

From outdoor clothing brands to coffee vendors, there are always loads of exciting exhibitors in the Event Village. We have big brands coming, like Salomon and Petzl, and some exciting independent brands such as Våga and Split Peak.

8. Some awe-inspiring Sky Races

If exposed ridges and sheer scrambles are your thing, then the famous Ring of Steall Skyrace and the Ben Nevis Ultra will be right up your street. For the experienced sky runners with nerves of steel, there is also the Glen Coe Skyline race, that is widely regarded as one of the toughest out there.

9. Skyline Sessions

Join us in the Event Village for the Skyline Sessions - these are free to attend Q&A sessions hosted by Keri Wallace from Girls on Hills. Your chance to meet some top ultra runners and local adventure heroes!
