Salomon Skyline Scotland Trail Half!
Our Trail Half Marathon route provides a tour-de-force experience of the Leanachan Forest. Following extremely runnable forestry tracks, paths, and trails, this route has it all. Whether running to compete or complete, this is a fantastic route through a peaceful forest with panoramic views of distant mountains.
Please note: This route is provisional and may be subject to change while finalising stakeholder consultations.
-
The initial 3km are on forestry tracks leading west towards Torlundy. These wide tracks allow runners to pass each other, spread out, and gently descend for a fast start to the route.
After a brief climb uphill, the route turns back on itself. For another 3km, it follows an amazing network of forestry tracks, paths, and MTB trails before crossing the world-famous UCI World Cup Downhill MTB track and under the Nevis Range gondola.
The next 12km take runners on a giant loop to the east, into the heart of the Leanachan Forest complex. This whole section is on excellent forest tracks and trails and is extremely runnable. The forest is peaceful, with panoramic views through the trees to distant mountains.
At 18.5km, the route starts to climb again, as the final few kilometres back the Nevis Range arena begins. These are excellent trails and a fitting end to a challenging trail half-marathon route.
The course will be fully signed, comprehensively waymarked and marshalled.
The entire route is mandatory.
Participants have no special right of way over other recreational users and are reminded to be polite and courteous at all times.
-
The route is approximately 21km with 300m of ascent.
